If you wondered if Donald Trump was really going to keep his campaign promises, this will have you completely convinced that he means business.
Before his inauguration on January 20, he is making an unprecedented move to ‘drain the swamp’ in a big way, and he is not messing around when it comes to getting rid of Obama’s cronies.
He has ordered his transition staff to issue a blanket order requiring politically appointed ambassadors to be removed from their overseas posts by Inauguration Day, not allowing a grace period that previous administrations have allowed.
From NY Times, [Trump] has taken a hard line against leaving any of President Obama’s political appointees in place as he prepares to take office on Jan. 20 with a mission of dismantling many of his predecessor’s signature foreign and domestic policy achievements.
“When you have people out there whose only reason for being an ambassador is their political connection to the outgoing president of a different party, it’s pretty logical to say they should leave,” said Mr. Neumann, a career Foreign Service officer who held ambassadorships in Algeria, Bahrain and Afghanistan. “But I don’t recollect there was ever a guillotine in January where it was just, ‘Everybody out of the pool immediately.’’
Well, they should just brace themselves because he’s just getting started. Consider yourself on call and have your suitcases ready to go if you are a liberal chum of namby-pamby Obama. He promised to remove all corrupt politicians and outside interests from Washington, D.C., and as Ronald Regan said, “I know it’s hard when you’re up to your armpits in alligators to remember you came here to drain the swamp” but Trump is going to get it done.
