Trey Gowdy is seen by most Americans as one of the most honest politicians today.
He led the Benghazi investigation holding Hillary Clinton’s feet to the fire and has been very outspoken against the Obama administration.
He’s proven himself as an honest representative of the people and next week will be confirmed as the replacement for Jason Chaffetz who is leaving at the end of this month.
He will have the powerful position of heading the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.
“Trey Gowdy possesses the experience and deep commitment to transparency and accountability necessary to be the House’s next Oversight chairman,” Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., said in a statement. “He has proven that he will always look out for taxpayers and seek answers from the bureaucracy. Trey has my absolute confidence, and I know he will do an outstanding job.”
Gowdy, in a statement, said he was “grateful” for “this opportunity to serve.” The statement made no mention of specific lines of inquiry.”
Rep. Tom Graves, R-Ga nominated Gowdy for the position saying that his background and leadership in the Benghazi investigation “perfectly suits him for this chairmanship,” adding that “he’s going to do a fantastic job.”
Chaffetz also gave a nod to Gowdy saying that “the right person for the job” because of his firm belief in holding everyone accountable no matter what their political affiliation is.
Because of Trey Gowdy’s honesty and integrity, no one is opposing him being given this position. Even top Democrat Elijah Cummings released a statement saying that they will “support his efforts whenever we can.”
Gowdy is very deserving of this prestigious position and there’s no doubt he’ll do a great job.
