It is a feeling we have come to know all too well.
That gut reaction when you hear of yet another terrorist attack. There is the heaviness, the anticipation as you learn where the attack occurred and the anger that these terrorists are able to get away with what they have done.
Then there is the second wave of feelings.
Relief that it did not happen close to you and your loved ones. Thankfulness that you and your family are safe.
But what if you knew that terrorists’ families were benefiting from their actions? Would your anger rise up again?
The Conservative Tribune reported that is exactly what is happening. And a Minnesota state representative supports it.
In the days leading up to San Bernardino terrorist Syed Farook’s attack, he took out life insurance policies for approximately $275,000.
Farook died in his terrorist attack that killed 14 people and wounded 22 more. Then his mother cashed in the life insurance policies.
Ilhan Omar is the first Somali-American elected to a state legislature. The Minnesota lawmaker recently cast her vote against a bill that would close a loophole allowing the families of terrorists to benefit from the terrorist act.
Omar was one of only two representatives to vote against the measure. Omar flat out voted against the measure.
Representative John Lesch also voted against the bill as he “raised concerns about an amendment added to the bill, which doesn’t require a terrorist conviction in court to limit payment to beneficiaries.”
He feared that insurance companies would use this amendment to deny claims without evidence.
Terrorists “should not be able to provide for heirs or whoever (they) want by increasing (their) life insurance policy,” said Minnesota Republican Joe Hoppe.
The Conservative Tribune argued that Lesch’s argument is not feasible since many terrorists die in the act of their terrorist activities and never face a courtroom.
Both Omar and Lesch are members of the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party which is a term used in Minnesota for the Democratic Party.
In addition to voting against the measure to prohibit beneficiaries from receiving payouts when someone dies committing an act of terrorism, World Net Daily reported that she “opposed a bill to limit mass protests designed to disrupt streets, train services and airport access.”
Debra Anderson of ACT For America said that Omar’s vote “clearly demonstrated her allegiance to the best interest of the jihadists’ families, like in Palestine, rather than acting on the behalf of the victims of terrorists.”
This is something we can all agree on. Omar’s actions protected no one except the terrorists and their families. This woman does not deserve to remain in office.
