If current trends that had their origins during the Obama administration are allowed to continue, we could eventually reach the point where the best way to get a job in the US is to be an illegal alien. It’s already headed that way with regard to government benefits, and if a provision is not removed from a House appropriations bill, illegal aliens will be allowed to legally work in government jobs, if that makes any sense.
Perhaps we exaggerate regarding the loss of job opportunities for American citizens, but only just. The direction is clear. There is a full-court press to move illegals into full participation in the US job market, and eventually in the US elections as eventual citizens. It’s a blatant effort to increase the Democratic voting rolls, but at least these people are alive, unlike some Democratic voters.
Fortunately, Republican Congressionals plan to remove this provision from this legislation before it comes to a vote. Hence, those who violated our immigration laws will not be rewarded with government jobs.
“The Democrat-drafted and-backed rule was inserted into the House’s version of the 2018 spending plan via a during a nighttime July 13 debate at the GOP-dominated House Committee on Appropriations. The jobs-for-illegals amendment was adopted because some GOP legislators joined Democrats in supporting the measure, but their identity and number remain secret because it was a voice vote, not a recorded vote.”
Bravery on the part of our representatives at its finest, huh?
“The plan is to have the House Committee on Rules declare that the jobs-for-illegals amendment is possibly improper, or out of order. That decision would allow a legislator to request during floor debate in the House of Representatives that the amendment be clipped from the bill. If a majority of the House votes the amendment is improper, it will be stripped from the bill.
“‘We feel confident that we will be able to strip it out,’ the aide said.”
Yet the problem of liberal Republicans or RINOs remains. “However, in recent weeks, a handful of liberal Republicans have joined with lockstep Democrats to defeat several important mainstream proposals about Pentagon transgender policies and counter-jihad policy. The liberal Republicans can vote with Democrats when they are not under pressure from the GOP leadership.”
The obvious question is where is Republican party leadership when it’s time to enforce party discipline. The Democrats don’t seem to have the same problem with this that the Republicans do.
There’s no joy in continually beating up on Speaker Ryan, but he is hardly a force for conservative principles, and seems almost willing sometimes to apologize for being a Republican. He could certainly do a better job in promoting the president’s agenda which closely mirrors that of many conservatives.
Then again, why is there even a debate over giving jobs to illegals? Only because the left wants new voters. That’s the bottom line.
